Deaf Empowerment – Deaf Humorama – The untold Deaf stories

Arkady Belozovsky is well known in the Deaf community of the world. He has worked in tourism, taught sign languages and Deaf Studies, studied the stories of the Deaf in unlikely places and fields, published chapters and periodicals, produced videos in interpreting, mentoring, training, entertaining, consulting, storytelling, touring, interviewing, narrating, vlogging, etc., lectured around the world, taught Deaf culture, is a certified Deaf interpreter (CDI), to name a few things he has done. His experience is vast and varied.

Arkady Belozovsky grew up in the USSR, performing as a folk dancer, actor, magician and tightrope walker in what is now the Ukraine. He comes from a long line of Deaf family members, as a third generation Deaf person. As a teenager, he and his family immigrated to the United States.  He earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees as well as three professional certificates from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and went on to teach ASL/Deaf Studies and Interpreting at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) and at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), University of New Hampshire at Manchester (co-Director of Deaf Studies and Senior Lecturer) and Brown University (first Deaf full-time lecturer) for a total of 16 years. He also has an ASLTA-Professional Certificate.

Currently working as a full time self employed freelance Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) and CLIP-R (Legal Interpreting) for 26 years, Arkady has traveled the world presenting on topics such as the immigrant and world experience, various topics in interpreting, finding one’s identity, Deaf history & culture, empowerment, ethics, leadership, and entrepreneurism.

Mr. Belozovsky has three Deaf children and one hearing CODA baby boy. His eldest son, age 21, is a junior at RIT. He has another son, age 15, a 5 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. He lives in East Brookfield, Massachusetts, USA.

Arkady is now on his way to Iceland to convey to us the main things he has learned, seen, studied, investigated and tried. He communicates to us his professional knowledge of the Deaf community from all perspectives.

The lecture and workshop are open to anyone who knows sign language. Arkady himself will speak international sign (IS).
